The Food Co-op of Utah

Hi SPL Brandon here,

I am writing a review about the Community Food Co-op of Utah. I went to volunteer there for the citizenship in the community merit badge. I read an article about the Food Co-op, and it is volunteer run except for two people. The Director's name is Katherine, and she was very nice and helpful.

I worked on Tuesday for two hours in the meat freezer. They keep the tempature at minus 10 C., which is below 20 F. We had to wear a heavy coat, gloves, a hat and heavy shoes. It was a lot of fun, so I went back yesterday to help out. We worked in the freezer again bringing out the boxes of meat so the workers could pack up the orders for this Saturday. My brother Parker and Dad were there too. We will be working for about 4 or 5 hours this Saturday to hand out the food orders.

Also, I found out that the Food Co-op is in need of funds to expand their meat freezer. So they are having a barbecue to raise some money for the freezer to be able to offer more food items. If you would like to go to this barbecue, it is on August 27th from 5PM - 7PM. The location is at the Food Co-op warehouse at 1469 S. 700 W. in Salt Lake City. The Food Co-op asks that you bring a ten dollar donation for the Freezer Fund but it is a free event.

Emergency Flashlights for Only $10

Hi SPL Brandon here,

Do you guys know what most scouts usually need on a camping trip? Well if you said a flashlight then you were right.

I have been a SPL for a few months so I know that most scouts either don't have or forget to bring a flashlight on scout camping trips. Those scouts are usually told that they need a flashlight with new batteries, right. So I have a solution, you can buy a rechargeable (just shake it) flashlight for only $10.00 from me. No batteries needed - but you can use batteries if you wish.

For you scouts that are a part of Troop 410 I will bring some flashlights to the Court of Honor this Monday. The $10.00 is going to a worthy cause, it is going to help me go to the National Jamboree in 2010.

Here is a link to a larger picture of the flashlight, it comes in red, blue, and clear. http://www.jamboreetroop605.com/other_pics/emergency-flashlight.JPG

Tristan Earns Terrific Kid Award

Hi SPL Brandon here,

I just wanted to comment on how one of our scout friends from Troop 410 got recognized for being a Terrific Kid.

Our fellow scout, Tristan was put in our school newspaper for being a Terrific Kid. Tristan got elected because of his quiet tendency.

They also put Tristan in the school paper because he is always prepared for class. The Scout Motto in action!

Also, the paper said that Tristan works well with others and that he is a well rounded individual.

Here is a picture of Tristan and his Dad at Brighton last weekend.

New ASPL is Tyler

Hi SPL Brandon here,

We have a brand new ASPL, his name is Tyler. I talked to him yesterday, and he was really jazzed about being our new ASPL.

Tyler is one of my good buddies and he is reliable. I hope all of Troop 410 will be happy with my choice.
